課程概述

Course Description
Film Inside Out addresses a major problem of much film criticism, that of the absence of any thorough treatment, or even consideration, of the screenplay as part of the process. Only by understanding the complexity of the structure and intention of screenplays is it possible to offer a professional critique of any director’s work.
 

課程目標
Course Objectives
This course contributes to a newly emerging area of Screen Studies that seeks to understand the role of the writer in the creation of film. It will equip students to understand the screenwriting processes, from treatments through to shooting scripts, to critique screenplays as texts in their own right and to critique film in more informed and useful ways.
 
課程要求
Requirements:
Students must read the assigned primary and secondary materials in advance of class each week and circulate e-mail comments to their colleagues to enable more in-depth discussion during the seminar. Full participation in terms of attendance and contribution is a requirement of this course.
